Early childhood education and care qualifications (sometimes known as child care qualifications) prepare students for employment in regulated care services such as child care, long daycare, kindergartens, occasional care and family daycare. It aims at the holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
According to the AISC and Department of Education Australia, early childhood education and care sector is large, diverse and growing rapidly. This sector is being operated by public and private organizations. Government is also encouraging and supporting such an organization. This sector is one of the strong pillars holding the economy. There are approximately 1,376,470 children belonging to 986,000 families, benefitting from services provided by registered childcare service providers in 2020. In 2020-23, this sector is expecting a big growth rate over the next 5 years. Especially childcarers are expected to have a very high demand for 27,600 by 2023.
