Upon completion of the qualification you will have the skills and knowledge required to provide care for individual and groups of children. This includes planning activities facilitating their leisure and play, enabling children to achieve their developmental outcomes. You will learn to support the implementation of an approved learning framework; organisational policies procedures and profiles support, children’s wellbeing, learning and development.

• To complete optimistic futures CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, your Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills must meet required standards for Certificate III level study
• Apply for a current working with children check (WWCC). To be able to undertake the practical component of this training
• Completed Student enrolment form

To students enrolled in the CHC30113 certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care are required to participate in a minimum of 120 hours practical placement with assessment required in all age group. Optimistic futures guarantees placement at our childcare facility (Bright Beginnings Family Day Care Centre) for students already employed with us. Students that are employed at other services will be able to complete their hours at their service providing it meets the requirements necessary to conduct assessment. Optimistic Futures can assist students who need to find alternate placement. Trainer/Assessor will visit your workplace for a minimum of 3 visits.

Successful completion of this course, students are eligible to enrol in CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Note: Optimistic Futures has chosen these Electives based on industry consultation.

• Satisfactory (S) result: the student’s submitted work satisfies the learning requirements and all competency standards for the unit (in accordance with the National Register www.training.gov.au).
• Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) result: the student’s submitted work does not demonstrate their understanding of all competency standards in the unit. If a student receives a ‘not yet satisfactory’ outcome, he or she will receive written feedback from a trainer/assessor, clearly outlining where the gaps are. The student will then be required to rectify these gaps and re-submit their assessment for marking.

Once a student receives a satisfactory result for all required assessment tasks a competent (C) outcome will be awarded for the entire unit. The student must demonstrate their understanding of all competency standards in each unit before receiving a competent outcome.

These competencies have been drawn from the nationally endorsed industry training package the Community Services Training Package (CHC). Upon successful completion of the training and assessment, the qualification CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will be issued. A transcript listing all units of competency will also be issued. The qualification and units of competency are nationally recognised and provide individuals with a valuable qualification that can be applied throughout Australia within the community services sector.

Applicants can apply for recognition of prior learning of their existing skills and knowledge that are relevant to the units of competency within the program. These skills and knowledge may have been obtained through workplace training or experience and may reduce the number of unitsrequired to be completed during the program. Students are encouraged to notify Optimistic Futures of their interest or intention to apply for RPL prior to their enrolment.

Applicants can apply for a credit transfer for any units successfully completed, as part of AQF qualification, at any other Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or TAFE. Credit transfers will be granted upon the receipt of sufficient evidence to support the application prior to the commencement of training.

Detailed student information is provided in our Student Handbook, which is supplied with the enrolment package. This Booklet contains important information about a student’s rights and obligations, such as their right to privacy, a safe training environment, right to complaint or appeal an assessment decision, meeting course progress requirement and maintaining appropriate student behaviour. It is important that person applying for enrolment must have had reviewed this information first.

Students are expected to bring along notebook and pen to take notes, may also bring a laptop.

The standards for Registered Training Organisations require an RTO to inform the prospective students of their right to statutory cooling off period. A statutory cooling off period of 10 days is applicable under Consumer Law to withdraw from a consumer agreement, if the agreement has been through unsolicited marketing and sales tactics. However, it may be noted that we do not engage in any aggressive marketing tactics like door to door marketing, hence Statutory cooling off period will not as such be applicable to our students who have enrolled into a program. Showing Competence in all assessment is a necessary part of this program to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge set out in the competency standards. Optimistic futures will be conducting of realistic workplace tasks, project, knowledge tests, case studies, feedback from supervisors.

Face-to-Face

Note: For the avoidance of doubt face to face includes both in-class and online (due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions) delivery.

Each participant enrolling in a course will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number to obtain their certificate or qualification when studying nationally recognised training in Australia. A USI gives you access to your online USI account which will help keep all your training records together. Certificates and Statements of Attainment cannot be issued without this number.
