HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is for both new learners and those refreshing their existing skills. It is recommended that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is updated every 12 months.
This short course is specifically designed to provide students with the knowledge to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Areas covered include introduction to first aid principles, airway and breathing management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation.
Students will be required to demonstrate that they have the required knowledge and skills necessary to manage an unconscious, non-breathing casualty to the arrival of medical aid.
Delivery of this course will be trainer led, face to face in a classroom setting combined with skills practice assessment.

Learner training is supported through the provision of quality learning materials and resources. Learners should attend the course in comfortable appropriate clothing. All equipment and consumable is supplied as part of the course
The student will be assessed by demonstrating procedure applicable to this unit. They will also be required to answer a number of oral and written questions regarding their actions and theoretical application of knowledge. The assessment will also be part of a simulated activity set by the assessor. This activity must be conducted by an assessor or Optimistic Futures and must be completed in the workplace or in another environment that accurately simulates the workplace. The assessor is too actively set tasks for the student and must observe these tasks being performed.
To standardise the application of the assessment, the assessment tasks (required skills and knowledge) are based on those specified in the Unit of Competency, HLTAID001- Cardio- Pulmonary Resuscitation The assessor will use an assessment instrument mapped accordingly to the assessment requirements of this unit of competency. Assessors will apply an assessment procedure to ensure you are ready for the assessment and have the right resources and equipment to achieve the right standard.
A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the unit; HLTAID001- Cardio- Pulmonary Resuscitation.
This unit of competence is nationally recognised and provides individuals with a valuable outcome that can be applied throughout Australia.
