This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, learners need to possess the required Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills, which are essential to successfully complete this qualification.

Practical Work Placement

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Assessment Marking System

  • Satisfactory (S) result: the student’s submitted work satisfies the learning requirements and all competency standards for the unit (in accordance with the National Register www.training.gov.au).
  • Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) result: the student’s submitted work does not demonstrate their understanding of all competency standards in the unit. If a student receives a ‘not yet satisfactory’ outcome, he or she will receive written feedback from a trainer/assessor, clearly outlining where the gaps are. The student will then be required to rectify these gaps and re-submit their assessment for marking.

Once a student receives a satisfactory result for all required assessment tasks a competent (C) outcome will be awarded for the entire unit. The student must demonstrate their understanding of all competency standards in each unit before receiving a competent outcome.

National Recognition

These competencies have been drawn from the nationally endorsed industry training package the Community Services Training Package (CHC). Upon successful completion of the training and assessment, the Certificate CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability will be issued. A transcript listing all units of competency will also be issued. The qualification and units of competency are nationally recognised and provide individuals with a valuable qualification that can be applied throughout Australia.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Applicants can apply for recognition of prior learning of their existing skills and knowledge that are relevant to the units of competency within the program. These skills and knowledge may have been obtained through workplace training or experience and may reduce the number of unitsrequired to be completed during the program. Students are encouraged to notify Optimistic Futures of their interest or intention to apply for RPL prior to their enrolment.

Credit Transfer

Applicants can apply for a credit transfer for any units successfully completed, as part of AQF qualification, at any other Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or TAFE. Credit transfers will be granted upon the receipt of sufficient evidence to support the application prior to the commencement of training.

Student Information

Detailed student information is provided in our Student Handbook, which is supplied with the enrolment package. This Booklet contains important information about a student’s rights and obligations, such as their right to privacy, a safe training environment, right to complaint or appeal an assessment decision, meeting course progress requirement and maintaining appropriate student behaviour. It is important that person applying for enrolment must have had reviewed this information first.

Students are expected to bring along notebook and pen to take notes, may also bring a laptop.

Award

On fulfilling the requirements, an AQF Qualification in CHC43115 – Certificate IV in Disability will be issued to learners within 30 days of completion of the qualification. Learners completing units but not completing the qualification will be issued with Statement of Attainment detailing the units that have been completed successfully.

Eligibility for Concession Rate

To be eligible for Concession rate to be eligible for the concession rate, you must hold anyone of the following:

  • Valid Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Valid Pensioner Concession Card
  • Veterans Gold Card

Please provide a copy of any one of the above stated identity document prior to the commencement of training. If you need to apply for a HCC, please ask us for a form or visit your local Centrelink office. You will need to apply as soon as possible and provide a copy to recruitment or the trainer before your course commences.

Concessions also apply for;

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander or
  • An Asylum Seeker/Victim of Human Trafficking (ARC/ASRC referral must be presented)

Cooling Off Period

Students are eligible to cancel their enrolment by placing a formal notice of cancellation in writing to the CEO (Letter or email) within 10 business days of enrolment, without attracting a cancellation fee, unless the student has already commenced the training.

Assessment Requirements

Showing Competence in all assessment is a necessary part of this program to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge set out in the competency standards. Optimistic futures will be conducting of realistic workplace tasks, project, knowledge tests, case studies, feedback from supervisors.

Note: For the avoidance of doubt face to face includes both in-class and online (due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions) delivery.

Unique Student Identifier

Each participant enrolling in a course will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number to obtain their certificate or qualification when studying nationally recognised training in Australia. A USI gives you access to your online USI account which will help keep all your training records together. Certificates and Statements of Attainment cannot be issued without this number.

If student has any complaint against Optimistic Futures’s policies, procedure, staff, fellow students, assessments, marking or learning resources, they can obtain a complaint form, from the reception of the Optimistic Futures, and submit as soon as possible for an early action
